	To avoid the greenhouse gas emissions responsible for global warming,we are guided by the following principles:

		AVOID: Avoid energy use when possible.

		REDUCE: When necessary, use energy as efficiently as possible.

		SUBSTITUTE: Once every efficiency measure has been taken, substitute fossil-fuel based power with clean, renewable energy (e.g., solar).

		OFFSET: If you cannot substitute with clean, renewable energy then purchase clean power offsets.

Maine Interfaith Power and Light works to protect the natural world from climate change. We promote clean power and energy efficiency, and through our Climate Care program, we partner with faith communities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
